The Caution Children - Unknown Lands LP is out now! Click distro above to order it! Find it in the BEAR Releases section! Also, this is kind of older news but I never posted an update here about it - The ¡Silencio, Ahora, Silencio! / Descubriendo a Mr. Mime Split 7 Inch has been out! And it looks awesome! Also, The Suffix/Beau Navire 7 inch has been repressed and you can buy it now on mud brown colored vinyl.

Before too long both the Megan & Amelia and Adam Finchler tapes should be out. Also, hopefully in February the Fire Team Charlie discography is going to the plant! Pretty exciting.

I am helping to release the Locktender/Cassilis - Split 7-Inch sometime in the coming months. This should be a really cool release! Locktender has members of Men As Trees who I have always enjoyed, and Cassilis totally rips! So I'm stoked to be a part of that.

As for anything else... running out of space here in the BEAR Records bedroom. So after what is currently planned I won't be able to plan any more releases for a little bit until I can get rid of some of this stuff. Please buy some records!

Happy thanksgiving! The cd version of the compilation CD featuring Spelling Bee/Shizukani Hisomu Hibi/Mol9000/Unfair Roots/Curve is now out and shipping! The Caution Children LP is in the final stages at the plant. Pre-orders up really soon. Check Facebook for the latest. The Mr. Mime/Silencio split had the test pressings approved and is almost done at the plant. My copies will be coming from Europe so there will be a slight delay. I don't think there will be pre-orders on this one, and there will be about 50 copies from BEAR. The Megan & Amelia 'Our First' tapes are here and dubbed, just waiting to finish up the packaging/sleeves and it will be out. No pre-orders. As soon as the sleeves are ready, it will be up to buy, so keep checking. That's about all the news. Oh, and if you didn't know, most of BEAR releases are streaming on bandcamp. The Zona Mexicana 10 inch record is now shipping. The 'real' release date is this Sunday, November 6th but all pre-orders have been shipped so hopefully everyone will get their records right around the release date, if not even earlier. The Caution Children LP has gone to the plant. I'm not exactly sure how long it will take but probably somewhere between 4-6 weeks. For the latest updates, check the BEAR Records facebook page! Since the last update, Cowboys Are Indians LPs are here and totally out. The records for the Zona Mexicana 10inch are here. The covers are arriving tomorrow. The inserts will be printed soon, and then it's all ready to go. The Caution Children - Unknown Lands LP is going to the plant very soon, maybe as soon as next week. This is a split release with Friends For Life, a great label out of Portland. And, a new release that I had not announced is going to the plant very soon! This one is being pressed over in Europe and split with some cool labels, the release is a split between two spanish screamo bands ¡Silencio, Ahora, Silencio! and Descubriendo a Mr. Mime. I personally had not heard anything about these bands before being asked to help on the release, but I'm super stoked on it. These bands both rip!! And you said screamo was dead. What were you thinking??????????

After a long wait copies finally arrived for BEAR18 - Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! 7-Inch. Everyone should check this release out, it came out super nice!

Also, Cowboys Are Indians records are set to arrive on Tuesday, so if all goes well the record should start shipping later this week!

Hello! News! The Zona Mexicana test pressings came in a few days ago. Super fast! They sound pretty cool, and I am excited for this release. No pre-orders yet, because even though the records will be here before too long, the band themselves is still working on the art and everything, but the plan is for the record to be out sometime in October! So it's certainly not to early to be excited!

Heard from the pressing plant last week that the Cowboys Are Indians LPs are supposed to be finished and shipping in a matter of days. As soon as I have them, orders will start going out!

Some quick updates! Today the 2040 Split cassette between Among Giants / Manqué / The New & Very Welcome / Tyler Daniel Bean is out in our store! If you were lucky enough to catch TNVW and Manqué on their tour you might already have a copy, but if not, 20 copies are now for sale HERE.

In other news Thediscordofaforgottensketch - Don't Pay More Than 5$ CDs should be up in our store later today or tomorrow... my copies are being delivered by some strange person.

Cowboys Are Indians record is still at the plant but the test pressings came in a week ago and were approved. Pre-orders are up now!

It's been some time since I've actually posted an update here on the news page. Well, we are still going strong. For the latest news you might want to follow BEAR Records on Facebook. Yeah, I know it's kind of sad but it's so much easier to update, especially for small pieces of news!

Anyway... what's new? Well, copies of the Beau Navire/Suffix split are going fast! We have something like 25 copies left, so if you are hoping to get this eventually, you should probably do it sooner rather than later! Before it's too late!

Cowboys are Indians' Constantly Fucked LP is at the plant right now. That should be out sometime next month I guess! But it depends on how quickly the records get here and everything. There will be pre-orders once we get the test pressings to avoid long delays and such.

I went to the post office this last saturday and there was a HUGEEEE box waiting! But sadly I didn't bring a car or anything and they closed in 10 minutes so I couldn't pick it up. But, I'm near certain this box contains my copies of the INFARTO! record!!!!! Which is so super exciting! So, next week be on the lookout for this to be for sale! The price I'm not exactly sure yet because we got these shipped from Italy, but it will be so worth it. The music, packaging, and everything is absolutely fantastic.

Other releases in the works...! Distro updates all the time!! Oh and, we have broke 500 orders! That's awesome! Thanks so much for all your support! Hopefully we aren't going anywhere anytime soon!

The Beau Navire / Suffix split is here and now officially out! Pre-orders will be shipping in the next few days! So excited this is out!!

The Sneeze 7 inch 'Grandma in the Trenches' is officially out! You can order it in the distro! Shipping now! These records came out really great! They look wonderful!

Bad Biology 'Before The Germ' tape is also out now. You can order it!!! It is limited to only 100 copies, some of which went to the band so if you want it get it while you can!

The Suffix/Beau Navire split is almost done at the plant. I think the final records should be shipping to the labels any time now... The covers and everything else are already done, just waiting for the records!

The Infarto LP is completely done, but my copies are in Europe. Funds a bit tight, I have to pay for my copies to get them over here! That will be happening pretty soon but everyone should order things from me so that it can happen sooner ^_^

I am also pretty certain that Thediscordofaforgottensketch CD is finished/ready, so probably I should be getting copies of that before too long.

Still no word on where my copies are for Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! 7 inch. I really hope that I get them eventually. The mp3s are around online and the record is soooo good. It will be a huge bummer if my copies which I paid for never get sent to me/make it to the states. But, hopefully they will still get here, at least I'm hoping!

Here's the latest news! Both the Sneeze 7inch and the Beau Navire suffix 7inch have been at the plant for awhile and we got the test presses of both back! They sound really great, so now the records are in an awesome race with each-other to see which will be finished first!! That's kind of a joke, but yeah! Anyway both records can be pre-ordered now in the distro/store under BEAR Releases section.

In addition, the Sneeze pre-order has a contest with it! One pre-order will be picked at random and get a test press included with their regular order. Thats cool, right? The test press is limited to 8 copies. I never did any kind of contest or anything like that before so this is a totally new thing. Hope you guys think its cool and not totally lame... haha. Anyway! Get exciteddddd these records are coming!

It's been a long time since any news posted here. Wow. Well, some cool things.

Since the last update the Sneeze record has gone to the plant and the test pressings should be here pretty soon. So it shouldn't be much longer before that one is out. Real cool.

Bad Biology tapes have been ordered, once they get here just have to duplicate that stuff, should be a great time. Won't be long, it should be before the Sneeze record. I am supposed to be getting copies of the CD version of this as well, so maybe everything will arrive all at once. That would be clever.

We spent the last few weeks looking for some more labels interested in helping out to release the Beau Navire/Suffix split 7-inch. I don't have the full details exactly, but I think we were successful in finding a couple more. So hopefully this thing will be really getting off the ground before too long. It has been delayed so much mainly due to money problems, but hopefully all that is in the past!

The Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! 7-inch still has not arrived here. I really hope my copies are coming soon. There are some MP3s of this record floating around on some blogs and it sounds REALLY COOL. I highly reccomend checking it out and picking up a copy when you can or when it arrives here.

I was able to get a little more news on the Suckinim Baenaim tape status. Due to money issues and other things some of the labels who were supposed to help release this might not be able to. It's kind of unclear, but this tape might still happen. Will find out more later.

The Infarto LP just got the art finished and it looks real cool. Maybe I can post up some images soon. The record itself is going to the plant. The labels are working together now to figure out how many copies each will get. This record is going to be so nice, I'm very stoked.

I will be helping to release the new CD from Thediscordofaforgottensketch called Don't pay more than 5$ (BEAR29), and guess what it will probably cost like... $5 haha, These dudes from Canada are excellent ! Also check them out on the 8 inch split with beau navire, carrion spring, te lloraria un puto rio, which you can get now ! This CD will be great though. It should be out kind of soon, get stoked!!

Sometime this summer will see the release of BEAR30 Cowboys Are Indians (from New Hampshire) new LP long in the works called "Constantly Fucked". I've heard the unmastered tracks and they sound GREAT, exactly what you would expect if you have heard older Cowboys Are Indians. Seriously I'm so glad this release will come out, Cowboys Are Indians has been seemingly in hibernation for awhile... but apparently they were just working on an awesome new record. Anyway!!! More on this later, but I'm so glad to be able to help get this released this year!

Well I have a couple things to say. First if you ordered in the last week or so, or if you are ordering now, you might have a small delay because I ran out of LP mailers. I am getting more soon, so sorry about that. Anything smaller like tapes and 7" should not be impacted by this delay, just LPs or things that couldn't fit in smaller boxes.

Other news, I have to announce these three releases. BEAR26 will be Bad Biology's Before The Germ EP. This is going to be a cassette release, and it might also have a CD version but currently this is a little unclear. Everything will be figured out really soon. Either way the cassette is being released here by me in the USA and also by Ominous Recordings in Europe. Both versions will likely be similar but slightly different packaging, as we will both be handling the tape production seperately since it is a lot cheaper that way for us. If you live in Europe you will probably want to get your copy from him! BEAR27 will be the release of Sneeze's debut 7-Inch called Grandma In The Trenches. Sneeze is out of Boston and contains members of L'antietam, and other cool bands. This is going to be split released by me and by the band themselves. We are hoping to get this project going really soon, so hopefully it will be out. The tracks are already all done and sound really good! BEAR28 will probably come a bit later. It is going to be the long awaited '2040' split cassette featuring Among Giants, Manqué, The New & Very Welcome, and Tyler Daniel Bean. Basically just more acoustic goodness.

Been back for awhile, things are pretty much back to normal around here. Not much other news to write of just yet, but expect medium-sized things from BEAR this year! A few releases already in mind, but a bit too early to announce... Can't wait to tell everyone about all the cool things! Yeah!

30 DECEMBER 2010

The first 100 covers for the Alessa/Parrhesia split have arrived! This means the record is effectively out! Pre-orders should be shipping tomorrow! Some of these records will be going to bands, so there are around 50 copies that are up for order right now on the distro page. Of course there will be more copies in the future once the rest of the covers are complete, but if you really want this record order while you can because once these run out it might be a little while before I have more!

I want to announce that I will be helping to release the new LP from Infarto (also known as The Infarto, Scheisse!) - an awesome screamo band from Italy who is absolutely under-rated in the United States. They have released a demo, self-titled LP, a CD, a 10-Inch split with Lady Tornado, and they had a song on the Emo Annihilation comp. This record is going to be a split release with a lot of great labels who all have really great ethics and ideals. It means a lot to me to be a part of these kinds of projects which remind me that some people still care about what punk rock is supposed to be; Instead of labels 'signing' bands and turning DIY into corporate rock. FUCK THAT.

Enough ranting. Don't forget: With exception of the previously mentioned Alessa/Parrhesia pre-orders, most orders will not be shipping until after 1/9!

Adobe Homes - Ristra 10-Inch is out now! All pre-orders have shipped, and copies have also shipped to the band. They should have their copies soon.

Today starts the BEAR Records winter vacation/hibernation. You can still order from the store but no orders will ship until after Jan 9th, 2011!

There is some news about Alessa/Parrhesia split. I'm told 100 of the covers have been completed and sent! So if all goes well, these should start shipping in the new year!! You currently can't order this record from the store, because the pre-order was taken down after the long delay. It will be back up for order when the covers are actually here just to avoid more confusion.

Adobe Homes records will be here around Wednesday or Thursday next week! Hopefully the pre-orders will ship before X-MAS.

Speaking of X-MAS, I will be on vacation and no orders will be shipped between December 22nd and January 10th !!! So if you want something, order SOON, otherwise it will not ship until after January 10th! The store will not be closed or turned off. You will still be able to order, but nothing will be shipped until I get back.

It seems like the Beau Navire/Suffix split is going to the plant pretty soon, but the exact timing is still a little fuzzy. We have the art and everything! Looks really awesome. Going to rule!

Still no word on Alessa/Parrhesia split covers. They are still coming eventually. No one should worry about their order being forgotten. That does not happen here. BEAR05 Ezra Joyce / Pianos Become The Teeth split is now sold out!! Hope everyone who wanted a copy was able to get it! There might be a few more in various distros, but not sure.

Pre orders are now up for BEAR19 which is the 5 way split LP. This is a more realistic pre-order and won't be as delayed as other pre-orders. Should ship by the end of this month/start of next month.

Adobe Homes - Ristra LP (BEAR11) went to the plant on Monday! So eventually there will be pre-orders for this record also.

Awesome news!! I found out that the Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! 7-Inch is pretty much ready! This was pressed in Europe and is a split with a few labels, so my copies might take a little bit of time to get here, but I am very excited and you should be too! There will not be pre-orders for this, and I will put it in the store as soon as the records are here! This is the first record and first 7-inch from this excellent band from Austria. Finally some news... Got the new test pressings from the new plant (not erika records) for the BEAR19 project. Sounds great when it's done right-no more issues!! Final records will be here in a week or two, but then still working on the covers and such. Final release... later in november? Maybe?

Also, I recieved word that the covers for the Alessa/Parrhesia split are finally being made! Awesome! Well it's great to know this record is finally coming out! Hopefully the covers will be all done very quickly... pre-orders will be shipping out as soon as I have the covers in hand, and the record will be put back on the web store at that time also. (It was taken down due to the extreme delay)

Next up is the Adobe Homes - Ristra 10" which should be going to the plant in about a week!

So moving is basically complete. A lot of orders and trades are going out. Not everything yet because I still have to get my LP/7inch mailers from storage. Another week and everything should be caught up.

The 5 way split LP (BEAR19) is a bit delayed now because the test press which came from the plant doesn't seem to play correctly on all turntables.. only some, so seems like the grooves are cut too close together. The plant is looking into the problem but estimated time... who knows, they are slow. But there is some GOOD NEWS, Miischa played a sweet show at my house (check out the shows section) and hooked me up with a small number of CASSETTES they made of the 5 way split. So these will be up in the distro within the next few days!!

Adobe Homes - Ristra 10" should be going to press so soon!!!!!!!! That is so cool!!

No new news on the Alessa/Parrhesia split. At this time I can not say when it will be out. Thanks everyone for being patient.

On the other hand, the eight inch split between Beau Navire, Te Lloraria Un Puto Rio, Carrion Spring, and The Discord of a Forgotten Sketch is now out! Almost all the pre-orders have shipped and new orders will be shipped at regular speed.

The next up release is the 5 way split LP BEAR19 with мища, Pansori, DEERS!, Animal Lover, and Colorchromatic. Test pressing is expected to arrive Friday, and final records not long after that. The cover art is still being worked on and then it has to be printed. I think I learned my lesson about pre-orders, they will be up once the cover art is completed and ready to go.

Some updates! Alessa/Parrhesia records are still waiting for covers. There are some delays, and I really can't say exactly when it will be ready. Hopefully it will not be much longr. In other news, the BEAR1 four way eight inch is basically out. The covers were mailed and should arrive any day now. Everything else is ready, so these should be shipping before long! Additionally, BEAR24 Montgomery Drive - Crybaby tape is out now.

The Alessa/Parrheisa records are here, but the covers are still not ready yet. I think a few more weeks for that is what I have been told. BEAR21 (4 way eight inch) records have shipped from the pressing plant.. so those are almost ready too, still waiting on a couple parts.

21 JULY 2010

Both Alessa/Parrhesia split (BEAR02) and the 4-way eight inch (BEAR21) are in final production at the plant now. So I should have the actual records around the same time. The shipping date of both is going to depend on when I get the covers. For BEAR02 Parrhesia themselves are making the covers, so hopefully they will be done soon and I will have them. For BEAR21 the covers were printed and Hal from Forever Escaping Boredom (who is one of the other labels helping with this release) has them and should be shipping me them soon! Then for BEAR21 we will still be waiting for the insert, but hopefully that won't take long either.

The Montgomery Drive tape is well underway. I have everything ready except the J-Cards. Hopefully only a bit of time will be needed for this.

The new (2nd) test press for the Alessa/Parrhesia split arrived today. It took awhile, but finally it sounds good!! And correct! So I'm really happy about that. The test press will be approved and the final records should now be underway. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before the final records are here but it would probably still be something like 2 to 3 weeks. I really hope it won't be much longer than that but keep checking back here for updates, and thanks to everyone for being very understanding and patient!

The test presses for the 8-inch split (BEAR21) were recieved and approved. The covers have been printed and should be shipping soon too, pretty cool! The new test press for Alessa/Parrhesia split has shipped, so hopefully it will be correct this time, and then there shouldn't be too much longer for that. Again, all who have been waiting forever... sorry! Next up after these is a tape from Montgomery Drive called "Crybaby". This is the tape version of the self released cd(r). Should be cool!!!.

Mothra Teresa tapes got sold out! Some trades still pending. Side A of the Alessa/Parrhesia split was just re-cut and sent to plating yesterday. So hopefully in another week or so I should have the new test press. Sorry to all who pre-ordered that this has become so delayed!

Dying In Motion, Years Passing, Fair Root, and S-Explode split is now in my hands and out! Fair Root toured up to Boston with Suis La Lune and Pala on friday (videos posted in show section) and dropped off my 90 copies of the record. Overall I am pretty happy with how it turned out. We went though a lot of difficulties with this record... First some sampling issues which delayed the record. Then the first covers being poorly printed, requiring us to print slightly lowwer quality covers for them to be ready for the Fair Root tour. In the end though, it looks nice and sounds amazing! And I couldn't be happier that everything finally came together on this one! It seemed really drawn out and with a lot of money spent but not many visible results until the final product. So happy to actually see it all together!!

This weekend in general was really awesome. First I got to hang out with Fair Root on Friday which was really fun. We spent a little time sitting under a tree on the edge of the Charles River, and then later roaming the streets of Allston looking for rice/veggie burgers and apples. I wish I got to spend more time with them, I love people's unique personalities and they seemed really down to earth and just all around awesome. I gave them lots of BEAR Records tapes and they gave me Fair Root things! It was excellent! Hope they can come back soon!

Then, on Saturday/Sunday/Monday I pretty much was hanging out non-stop with Parrhesia dudes who are so awesome! The show in NH on Saturday was sort of a bust because most of the bands dropped off so only Alessa and Parrhesia played, only 2 people that wern't in bands showed up for the show. But it was still great because Parrhesia got to hang out with Alessa and hear them play and vice versa. So I'm glad it happened, and it was a good time. The show in Amherst sunday was more successful as far as people showing up, recorded the Parrhesia set there. Video up soon! It seemed like a lot of people were into Parrhesia and bought their stuff. Good times!! Monday was their day off, and I took off work and we just walked all around Boston all day long. I also bought a sweet record at Goodwill for $1 called 'Environmental Sounds'. Side A is a thunderstorm and side B is recorded in a forest. So awesome!!!!! Well, hanging out with Parrhesia was great. We did a lot more stuff than I ever could or should write about here, but I really hope these guys come back! Oh, and pre-order their split with Alessa!!! It will be out in just a few weeks! Side A is being re-cut now after the test press error.

Pre orders have been up since yesterday for the 8 inch split between Beau Navire, Te Lloraria Un Puto Rio, Carrion Spring, The Discord of a Forgotten Sketch. $6+shipping = about $9.77 media mail within usa. This record cost slightly more than a 10 inch record to make so this price is pretty good. Every band/song on here is awesome. I'm really excited for this one! You should be too!!

Pre orders also just went up for BEAR22 which is the 4 way split LP between Dying In Motion, Years Passing, Fair Root, and S-Explode. Should be out in just over a week! This contains about 45 minutes of music on a slick black vinyl. It's split between a few labels so I only will have about 90 copies to sell. They should last for a bit, but if you want to be safe probably order soon!

4 JUNE 2010

The Alessa/Parrhesia split is going to be delayed a bit. The test presses arrived with about 3 seconds of audio missing randomly in the middle of one of the songs on the Alessa side. The error has to be fixed at the pressing plant so the records are going to be a bit late due to this delay. Parrhesia is getting 40 copies of the messed up test presses to sell on tour. Some of these will be avaiable at the release show too, unless they sell out. The final records will probably be delayed by about 2-3 weeks, so we shall see.

Also, the 4 way split eight inch BEAR21 is at the plant now. It will be a little bit before this is ready. Probably out sometime in July. There are a lot of labels kind of working together on this one so different parts of the record will likely be ready at different times, and there will be some coordination delays I am sure. Anyway, pre-orders for this will also be up soon... An eight-inch costs a little more than a 10inch to make because of the custom size, so the price is estimated to end up being somewhere between $6-$8.

I have 3 copies of the What Price Wonderland?/Syn*Error split 7inch back in stock thanks to a trade. Also a bunch of new stuff added to the distro so check it out. There are a few more things still left to add so those will be coming up there in the next days also.

With the exception of trades I didn't mail yet, Saddest Landscape/Trophy Scars split is SOLD OUT!!! The band still has some copies, and so do a bunch of other distros so get your damn act together if you've been slacking on that one.

Just a quick update. Oh Apollo / Lost In Bazaar tapes are officially out. They are $2.25 and include a lyrics insert and I guess a digital download... might as well!

Alessa/Parrhesia split has gone to the plant! Pre-orders are up now, and the record is expected in mid-june. Wow, this one took a long time and has gone through a lot of changes but it's finally coming out!

They found my naked corpse... has sadly had to be dropped from the 4-way split 8inch because they disappeared off the earth... no one wanted to remove them, but no one knows what happened to them so the decision had to be made. Great news though, they will be replaced on this split by an awesome band called Carrion Spring from Portland, Oregon. These guys really rule!! Check them out, and get pumped... this split goes to the plant before too long.

Also, we have been working secretly and hard for the last weeks on our own digital download system. After getting sick of dealing with others mistakes or expensive digital download hosting fees, we are taking matters to our own hands. Our system should be finished soon. The software for the distro (zen-cart) has been updated to the latest version. Everything should work the same but there may be some hidden issues. If you have any problems please contact me. I will work with everyone if there are any issues in the system.

Oh Apollo/Lost In Bazaar tapes are here, but I have to print the inserts. It will be avaiable to order pretty soon for $2.50.

Calculator had to drop from the 4-way split, which is now going to be a 5-way split hopefully. They will be replaced by Animal Lover (ex-Gumbi), and Colorchromatic.

The Oh Apollo/Lost In Bazaar split tape is underway. It will be out soon. There won't be pre-orders this time.

So it was all a lie before. Well, partially a lie. DEERS! is still broke up, but they are still doing the split. Their last recorded songs will be on the split. Cool!! Everything is getting close!

Well, The New & Very Welcome tape is out as promised! Good news! And you should definitely want to get this asap!

Bad news: DEERS! is broken up, so the 7" won't be coming out. A few of the members are making a new band, and while the 4-way split won't feature DEERS!, hopefully some track(s) from this new band.

Alessa is going to be recoding soon for the split with Parrhesia. This is really the final step to getting this hing out! Parrhesia songs are recorded and ready to go so once Alessa songs are set this thing will hit the pressing plant!
